The Wildlife in Focus photo contest has been held biennially in odd numbered years for more than 20 years.
The contest offers a large cash prize purse. In 2023 the prize purse was $35,000
A professional or amateur photographer (or a team of 2 photographers) is paired with a participating landowner forming a partnership. These partners take photographs during the contest period only on the partner land. Photographs are entered by categories as described by the rules. In 2023 there were 50 categories and 2 images per category were allowed to be entered per team.
Images are judged by an experience panel. Images are coded so that judges can not know neither the photographer or the landowner for the images. Winning images Each category are awarded cash prizes, Generally the top 5 images per category. For the majority of past contests the winning photographs have been published in a book. These books are made available for sale through our website.
Dates for the next contest have not yet been determined.
Dates for the 2025 contest will be announced well in advance of the contest period.
